Disney to Charge for Room Service on New Cruise Ship

Disney Cruise Line is considering introducing a fee for room service on its newest ship, Disney Adventure. If implemented, a $5 delivery charge and an automatic 18% gratuity would be added to all room service orders. This would be the first time Disney Cruise Line has introduced a fee for room service. The change is allegedly due to the large size of Disney Adventure, which can accommodate 6,700 guests. Room service has been slow and plagued with issues on the ship, leading some to speculate that the fee is to deter passengers from placing too many orders. Other cruise brands like Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line charge flat delivery fees of $10 or less. However, Disney Adventure would be the first ship in the Disney fleet to introduce a room service fee. Disney Adventure is the newest addition to the Disney fleet and is designed to be the largest ship at sea. The fee has not been officially confirmed by the cruise line, but it is expected to be implemented starting in June. The introduction of the fee has sparked debate among cruise fans, with some expressing concern that it could impact the overall Disney experience. Despite the uncertainty, Disney Cruise Line has confirmed that breakfast room service will remain complimentary on Disney Adventure. The fee is just the latest change to the Disney Cruise Line experience, following the introduction of a paid dessert party for The Lion King: Celebration in the Sky fireworks show on Disney Adventure. The Dazzle and Delight package costs $49 per guest and includes a reserved VIP viewing area, desserts, drinks, and an exclusive trading pin. The size of Disney Adventure and the demand for room service may be the reasons behind the fee, but only Disney Cruise Line can confirm the reasoning. As the cruise industry continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how Disney Cruise Line addresses the concerns of its guests and maintains the high standards of service that it is known for.
